Enabling the Carbon Management Economy through Carbon Accounting – Views from the CCS+ Initiative

The CCS+ Initiative is leading efforts to create a robust carbon accounting framework that incentivizes, tracks and accounts for every CO2 molecule captured or removed from the atmosphere, and durably stored or used. In this conversation, we talk to Matthias Krey, Managing Director at Perspectives Climate Group and Christiaan Gevers Deynoot, Senior Manager for Carbon Removal Platforms at South Pole, who both serve as CCS+ Secretariat co-leads. Collaborating on technology – learnings from the CO2 Capture Project

The CO2 Capture Project was a unique collaborative program that over 22 years brought together major energy companies to advance technologies for the deployment of industrial CCUS. In this conversation, we talk to Tony Espie of BP and Arthur Lee of Chevron, who led the program from 2015 to 2022, about what they have learnt about optimal collaboration around technology development and how they saw the potential of policy evolutions over the lifetime of the project. The discussion will be moderated by Iain Macdonald, who leads OGCI’s CCUS Workstream.

Northern Lights – Decarbonizing European Industry

Norway’s Northern Lights hub will start operations in mid-2024, opening new decarbonization options for European industry. In this conversation, we talk to Børre Jacobsen, Managing Director of Northern Lights and Magnus Ankarstrand of Yara Clean Ammonia, the hub’s first commercial customer. They will discuss what it takes to get to a commercial agreement, what needs to be done before CO2 injection starts next year and how Northern Lights might fit into Europe’s emerging net zero infrastructure. The discussion will be moderated by Alexander Engh, head of CCS at Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
